He's a mail carrier now according to Wikipedia.

Gamesmanship was in SCV, but there was also a store in 5outh Coast Plaza before that. Gamesmanship was the one I now recall us going to a lot later on.

The Ralph's cookware store is the one I rode my bike to. It went away many years ago.

Yeah, good stuff. I still have my character sheets from Top Secret, except John B. Goode of course. One of the stupider things I've done was drop it in the lake when he died.Gary Rayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11897166491600280320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150649422744296369.post-8504354352161965542009-05-28T20:34:57.950-07:002009-05-28T20:34:57.950-07:00And didn't you have a character sheet written by t...And didn't you have a character sheet written by that guy who played the older brother in the movie "ET"?

The store was Gamesmanship. It was originally at South Coast Village. That's where you smelled the coffee. I, too, have those wonderful memories of that coffee aroma. The other store where we bought our gaming supplies was at a cookware store near Ralphs.

Ah, Top Secret. The Red Menace. The Fong Gang. I still have all my administrator notes and character sheets packed away. Too many good memories.Russell Droullardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09770944479301677583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150649422744296369.post-25863843621129297702009-05-28T20:07:55.317-07:002009-05-28T20:07:55.317-07:00You know, I never even thought of the cookware thi...You know, I never even thought of the cookware thing as creating a fixation, but it makes sense.Gary Rayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11897166491600280320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7150649422744296369.post-2456024688514033052009-05-28T20:03:01.359-07:002009-05-28T20:03:01.359-07:00It's interesting that our hobby gaming 'ca...It's interesting that our hobby gaming 'careers' started with the exact same game: green dragon basic D&D (mine was bought at a Wal-Mart), yet went so differently after that.

I blame two things:
1) I lacked a regular gaming group until college. I was lucky to get one other friend to game with me at a time. I had probably a half dozen friends who gamed, but for one reason or another we were never able to meet as a group.

2) I never bought games at a cookware store. My local source for games was a hobby & craft store that had a broad selection of hobby games: wargames, rpgs, and miniatures, so I never got fixated on D&D.Fulminatahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14332824290977548527noreply@blogger.com
