I had the store windows painted today. The original idea was for a snowy holiday scene, but eventually the ideas coalesced into something resembling The Hobbit. Nothing says happy holidays like a dragon flaming a village. Anyway, if it looks cool and draws the eye to the store, then mission accomplished.
Oh dear. I really hate to do this, but... "Wonderous"? Not a word. "Wondrous" is what should have gone up. Yes, it's a very common mistake, but... sorry. I'm a pedant, and a syaesthete, and mis-spelled words can cause me to feel pain.
ReplyDeleteNot that that'll stop me heading in. I'll just do my shopping with a permanent slightly pained look on my face.
No, "wonderous" is an alternate spelling of "wondrous". I looked it up while she was outlining it. It set off alarm bells in my head too.
ReplyDeleteIf you say so, but I predict a LOT of people telling you it's wrong.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you don't let any of them out without selling them something. It works as a sneaky way to get people inside...
Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary:
ReplyDeleteWonderous
Won"der*ous\, a. Same as Wondrous.
The cat says it's wrong.
ReplyDeleteEat the cat.
I see hobbits roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost lapping up their broken souls...
Woot!
Fantabulous, I says
Nice. We used to have holiday window painting contests in our high school. One of my only pleasant memories of that horrible time in life. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)
ReplyDeleteReally? I figured you for a popular kid.
