Baseline Suck

Rather than rant, here's everyone I've had serious problems with this week. You know they suck. They've always sucked. Just in case you thought they might have stopped sucking, let me assure you, it's not the case. Companies that suck have a culture of suckage. They know they suck but can't seem to do anything about it or choose not to. It's suck as business model. Irredeemable suck.

Baseline suck:
  • Microsoft
  • AT&T (the phone company)
  • Fry's
  • Diamond
  • Crack heads
Thanks for listening. Back to our regularly scheduled muck raking. Feel free to rant about suckage in the comment section.

  1. Microsoft - effective monopoly when it comes to their main products
Phone Company - effective monopoly. There are options, but few and rarely reasonable ones
Fry's - well, they just suck
Diamond - monopoly, no "effective" about it, a pure monopoly
Crack Heads - at least if you don't like your current crack head, you can always find more!

  2. Add all these bastards up and you don't even come close to the uselessness that is Hasbro. I could write a dissertation on them, but I'll sum it all up with the most recent anecdote: after jumping over hurdles to get them to ship us a $13K order, I simply called to get the invoice so we could check the 91 boxes in to make room for our weekend tournaments. I swear to Gygax, our rep said that I'd just have to wait, because searching for our invoice wasn't worth his time.

I need to stop here, otherwise it'll get messy.

  3. Wow! A Hasbro order. I don't know what I would do with $5k minimum worth of Hasbro, let alone $13k. It does sound like they're abusing their mass market monopoly position. When it comes to mass market board games, it's all Hasbro.

Wal-Mart is my new Hasbro distributor, provided I can find game boxes that don't look like they fell of a truck.

  4. Hasbro is just about all there is in mass market toys as well. There's a reason they are often referred to as "Hasborg."

They don't fall into my "effective monopoly" category because from an intelligent consumer's point of view there are plenty of options. Too bad that doesn't help you middleman types who have to have stuff to give to the customers who still want Hasbro.
